I'm back! ;)

Sunday, December 4, 2011

 Hi friends,
This past week was b-u-s-y, hence my absence from your blogs (and mine!). We had a friend (back from High School!) visiting and were busy showing her a good time! This past weekend we took a trip to Germany to watch The Ten Tenors perform (her roommate from NYC is one of them) - and it was pretty awesome, I have to say. At first I was all "rock opera? what?" but it was really fun and all the guys were really cool! If you get a chance to go it's pretty impressive (they are touring Germany now).

Anyway, the photo above is from our Thanksgiving last weekend. We did a traveling one - an Apero at my house and the dinner at my friends (a blocks walk)....I've been feeling so thankful to have a lot of quality people in my life and am already looking forward to next years food ;)

SO! This week it's back to normal - time to catch up on blogging, running and achieving some kind of balance...
AAAAND i just remembered I need to Christmas shop so probably not a lot of relaxing :(

How have you been?

The above pictures are from a trip we took with some friends to the Alsace Region of France where we camped and did some wine tasting!
~
Quick version of catch up or I'll write a book and we don't want that!
  • Have had visitors at my place for the last month
  • Just said goodbye to the last round a couple days ago
  • I have no idea where to begin with catching up anything
  • It was so fun but entirely exhausting, as if you hadn't heard me whine about it yet!
  • I was in Cinque Terre twice in the past month.
  • I got to walk around Milan for 2 hours - only went in to the American Apparel...ashamed.
  • I drove a manual car in to Milan and down to CT...I can do anything now.
  • I've eaten in the last month what I usually eat in one year, I'm sure...
  • My reader has over 2,000 things to read in it...
  • I didn't get that job =( Turns out I need to speak gooder German...;)
  • Finding a job in der Schweiz is almost impossible but can be done, so I'm hopeful. My degree doesn't transfer here so I've been applying to HR's and admin assistant positions all of who want fluent German, of which I don't have. I have to talk down my resume. But, we moved here knowing I might not be able to work...so I'm not upset or anything! But...I am learning german....
  • And now...I go read your blogs!
  • Oops, I wrote a book..

Cuties

Saturday, September 18, 2010

So I was laying on the beach and saw these 2 cuties playing and I couldn't help but laugh at their green and purple butts, they were adorable.

I know this sounds generic, but it's not...It was so good hearing from you on your comments from the last post and I'm stressed out by how out of touch I am, I miss you! I'm off on another trip with our visitors but on Tuesday I finally have some down time to catch up on your blogs and I can't wait. I know I shouldn't be all stressed out about not "blogging" and living "real life" but honestly, I kind of am because they are the same and I feel like a bad friend and I feel like you are part of my real life!

P.S. When people say they haven't been blogging because they are out living life, it makes me feel like a loser. And I'm totally not, so there.

P.S.S. Cross your fingers for a job interview I had this week - or don't...either way - having a job and not having a job are both acceptable options to me - but having a job would mean I could buy more of these amazing things I'm always posting and ranting about ;) (uh...or I mean, save more...)

Cows & Mountains

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

I'm kind of excited about how bizarre my life feels sometimes - like how I can go pet a cow on the top of a mountain any day I want! Look at how freaking cute he is! And how I watched a cow being brought down on a gondola lift thing...I just never thought that is something I'd see - which proves you just never know what the day is going to bring!
Ok, I wanted to pop in and say hi in the midst of my hostessing marks fam. Mostly because I'm really excited about the cow picture - THAT'S ME PETTING A COW! I've seriously pet cows before, but this is like bona-fide Swiss cow with a cow bell and er'thing. Anyway, I'm going to stop going on about the cow - just don't judge me, I'm really a normal person.

Post Secret

Monday, June 14, 2010

Do you read Post Secret?
This post card was sent in by an illegal immigrant and posted to his website...and then...
Within 24 hours, nearly 20,000 (and more now!) people had signed up for a Facebook group titled “please don’t jump,” which was later linked beneath the secret on the Post Secret blog, linking in thousands of supportive comments. On the group’s page, sympathetic users posted comments ranging from simply “I want you here” to “If I knew when you’d be at the bridge, I’d drive all the way from Ohio to meet you there, and hold you until you changed your mind.”

This gave me goosebumps and it made me happy to know that somewhere someone started that group for this person.

Hiking and whatnot - Advice needed!

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

These pictures are kind of un-real to me - still. Here's the thing - I'm not much of a hiker - I get bored and I'd rather run, etc...but M really wanted to hike up this mountain behind our flat and he was really really excited about it so I couldn't not go - so I went. That little town in the middle row to the right - that's where I live! Just beyond that is Luzern. Anyway, I cannot walk properly - my legs are so incredibly sore...but looking back, I think it was worth it - I got some cool pictures anyway!

My big question is - what in the world do you wear hiking? I'm totally out of my element in hiking shoes and what not. Is it possible to look way hot and go hiking? No...
So do you hike? What do you wear?!
I live in der Schweiz - home to hardcore Swiss hikers and amazing hiking opportunities and a husband who is ridiculously outdoorsy - so I'm not going to be avoiding it anytime soon. Help a girl out!

P.S. I'll pry climb Mt. Everest next - I dunno

little life update..

Sunday, May 16, 2010

This would be a fuzzy pic of Mark and my dawg...but I still love it.
I just had such a whirldwind past week with our company! We did a few day trips while Mark was working and then he took the last part of the week off and we explored southern Switzerland - it was amazing and I plan on showing some of the photos I took (I didn't carry this huge bulky camera bag with my new cam around Switzerland for nothing!) because the areas we went were just so gorgeous!
We sent our friends off on their train tonight and just arrived home a little bit ago. Tomorrow is when I start organizing my life, my computer and my pictures - that is what Mondays are for I think. For now, I must go to bed!

super hero!

Saturday, May 15, 2010

I am seriously loving this amazing story out of Seattle - The Make-A-Wish Foundation granted his wish of being a superhero and got all of these huge groups in the city involved, how freaking adorable is this?! This is beautiful.

The grays.

Thursday, May 6, 2010

My little pup looks exactly how I feel today.
We have guests arriving from the US tomorrow morning which means I should be cleaning and planning...
But, it's been gray and rainy for about 5 days now and I'm starting to feel it - I'd much rather lay on the couch, read and nap. I just have absolutely no motivation to do the things on my list which makes me feel like a failure at life!
Does anyone have a sure fire cure for battling the grays?
