Street Art

Thursday, March 13, 2014

I like this street art that I found at joeiurato.com

I have totally shamelessly abandoned the blogging world the past few weeks, it is true. I was having the site redesigned, but we've come against complications (as one would working with blogger) and I have to decide on some things blah blah. anyway, it has kind of make me all lackadaisical about blogging AND I've been this little social butterfly lately, so all of that combined and you know how it goes. anyway, i hope YOU are doing well and I have a quiet weekend ahead so hopefully will be catching up!

Paleo {Amazing} Muffins

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

These Paleo Banana Muffins are the bommmmmb. Make them. And be healthy. Down with sugar! (but, literally, as i write this i'm eating a blueberry muffin from the bakery, so don't worry, i'm not judging)

Abandoned Winter Olympics Site: Sarajevo

Monday, February 24, 2014

There's something so poignant about these haunting photos of the abandoned winter olympics site in Sarajevo from 1984.  Sarajevo is such a special city to mark as he spent summers there in college, and later took me back to visit - the city and the people have such a beautiful heart..

And hello btw! Did you like my blog break last week? I got back from Berlin Sunday night and catapulted in to the week of no organization, lots of last minute plans and general laziness, ha!

Chia Seeds

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Lately I've been learning about/discovering the benefits of Chia seeds, so I've been searching for recipes that use them. They are like this crazy super food that I never have known much about - but I'm just going to put them in everything, basically...I made the top left banana pudding this weekend and it was delicious

1. 3 Ingredient Banana Pudding
2. Chia Seed Breakfast Pudding
3. Roasted Chia Cauliflower
4. Chia Seed Peanut Butter Cookies (the least healthy option)

Chia seeds are great because they are packed with fiber, calcium, omega-3 fatty acids, Manganese, Phosphorus, protein for vegetarians and they are gluten-free. It's also said that they stabalize blood sugar, regulate appetite, improve sleep, improve blood pressure in diabetics, etc*. Its basically a super food that can only be beneficial to your diet (until a study comes out saying its not ;)

Monday, February 10, 2014

Do you celebrate the Valentines Day? We are not such fans of it over here, but I don't mind giving it a nod - and I don't mind getting/giving a small gift. And I do have a small little gift planned for my girls!
But anyway, here are some fun Valentine's posts from around the web that I thought I'd share...enjoy!

Weekend.

I'm not a fan of how fast weeks and weekends are going these days...feels worse than usual. Here are a few snaps from the weekend..

Stopped by Young Designers Market this weekend - had some pretty cool things

Wesley made some Valentine's cards. All by himself. (diy idea from a tiny rocket)

Is it bad that I love when Wesley has a fever because he likes to cuddle with me? I'm in heaven when this happens because he's so hard to get to stop moving!
Was it bad to send M a picture of this ring because it would be such a cool Valentine's Day gift? :) (this I found in the best vintage/antiquey/unique jewelry store ever, in Luzern)

a London Town Home

Thursday, February 6, 2014

I'm dying over..no, I'm dead...like and I'm being the least amount of dramatic that I can be over how much I want/love/need this remodeled London town home (that was previous untouched for 60 years) by film director Christine Chang Hanway (via (and see more pics at) Remodelista). Its my kind of perfection times infinity. My heart actually hurts.

Landing in Berlin

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Thursday next week, I'll land in Berlin for a little long w/e with a couple of friends. I'm beyond excited - people tell me they know I will love this city, that its up my alley...I can't wait to find out. I can't wait to see the wall, tour the old underground bunkers, go to a concert, and eat at one of the many restaurants we've put in our list (hamburgers, paleo, pastrami, american brunch, schnitzel..etc!), and shop...of course. Do you have any recommendations?

Here are some pieces on my packing list, which, is basically all I've been wearing lately, so whatever.

Navy Blue Zara Sweater - I wear this way too much.
Grey Sweater - Mine is a huge oversized thing from HM
Dark jeans/Grey jeans
Asos Chelsea Boots - I just ordered these...love.
Vintage LV Satchel - Just like the one I purchased in Tokyo (at a much better price)
Gold Timex Watch - I'm on my 2nd one. Its such a classic little watch, I adore it.
Random Bracelets
Earrings
Black beanie

 This...

Sunday Drive

It was a slow weekend, catching up with people, cooking, cleaning and a relaxing Sunday morning drive around the lake with a friend. The weather was grey, rainy, foggy - in other words, an enchanting way to see little villages on the lake with a backdrop of foggy obscure mountains. We stopped at a fancy (deserted) hotel in Fitznau for a coffee, it felt a little eery and old school, but beautiful and polished. Makes no sense I know.
Hope yours was great!

my almost 16 month old. rocketing out in to the world...saying 'bath', 'shoe', 'danke (dank ka ka!), 'whoaaa!' 'nein, nein, nein' 'dry dry dry', 'ya' - a little mix of german and english there, running across rooms, putting things in the garbage if we ask him, putting things away, blowing out candles (and lights), making us laugh, giving hugs and kisses, back rubs, trying to read me books, "brushing" his teeth, throwing balls for bama...

i guess i just didn't imagine it being like this - totally joyful, laughing everyday with him, wanting him as close as possible (so many hugs!), squealing in excitement and clapping when he says or does something completely insignificant to the average observer, a heart that physically hurts with love. so much i love him. this boy!
