Neon Pigeons

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Not sure I quite understand the point of this random project ("safely" spray painting pigeons different colors to get people to see them differently?) BUT it makes for some neat looking pictures.
{More info and pictures here}
*and to the crazies: no i'm not advocating animal cruelty for cool pics ;)

Ha! So random. I wonder who came up with that idea? Striking images though. I wonder what the birds thought...

That's kind of interesting. If anything it brightens up the city a bit :)

Ah, post modern artists always get the best of us.

Yes, interesting. Of course I'm wondering how it will affect the pigeons. I'm going to assume the people who planned the project did their homework and the birds are just fine. Must be pretty when they are all together.

I've never been one to get the modernists either. Though the doves are kinda nice to look at - much better than loud, industrial scrapmonger 'installations'.

lol so its neon trend everywhere I see.

Woah, now that's art in motion! Isn't it? It's kinda crazy too, but I like it!

not enough people respect pigeons, i hate it when you see people and kids terrorizing them. only doing their job!

SmartBear said...

I am a little shocked....or maybe impressed? Because who thinks to paint pigeons?

Ooh they are rather striking in neon hues! I hope the color washes out in the rain though :-)

What a random idea! The pictures are certainly striking and make you think about the pigeon's...beauty??

you know whats funny? I'm not an animal rights advocate AT ALL. In fact, I think it's safe to say that I don't even like animals.. but things like this irritate me. (the idea, not you posting about it! haha) I can't imagine painting an animal.

My gosh, when we lived in London we hated all the pooping pigeons - they are like flying rats. I definitely don't want to see them better...Cool idea though

Love this. Such a cool idea. Reminds me of my little Lola. Her pony tail is (safely) dyed pink. She gets so much attention because of it!

I'm glad they are safely painted. My Mom said they used to do this to chicks back in the day..

How strange! Looks pretty but I bet the pigeons weren't pleased. It's kind of cruel :( xxx

I don't know, it seems like a lot of work. But kind of funny.

That's pretty amazing! I would say this is so cool!

Hmm, this is a really interesting "project". I'm not sure how I feel about birds being spray painted for human entertainment, but it's a cool concept. Thanks for sharing!

What a strange idea - although I agree, makes for very interesting photos. Pigeons get such a bad rap, and for no good reason at all (they're in the same family as doves, after all!). I feel bad for them : )

Fashion-Bridge said...

Oh wow! i've never seen the birds like this! The photos looks gorgeous but I feel sort of bad for the birds...

I'm actually petrified of pigeons so I had to laugh out loud at this. I can't imagine being scared of something that is neon pink! Brilliant!

This is neat - and totally random. I'd love to hear the thought process behind this
