Swimming Studies

Thursday, July 5, 2012

I'm slightly obsessed with this book that I saw on a blog (click there for an interview w/ the author) - Swimming Studies is to be released on the 5th and I'm going to have to put it on my Christmas list. (hey, 6 months goes by fast). It's a memoir of the authors life as a swimmer and involves some of her paintings, musings and bathing suit collection, etc...I was a swimmer in HS and would love to travel down memory lane through her writing. I am sad to say I haven't swam for exercise probably since then but I loved it and everytime I smell chlorine it takes me back to that pool in HS. good times!

I want to be a swimmer so bad. I think it's the most poetic form of exercise. So graceful and free. I had no clue you were a swimmer. Makes sense since you have such awesome muscles.

Wow ... what a gorgeous looking book, and it sounds like it would be both an interesting read and a visual treat.

I've never been much of a 'proper' swimmer, but I do love being in the water. Having a pool at home must be one of life's greatest luxuries. :)

This is beautiful... I'm sure the color of the artwork must be nicely inspired by water... Have a nice one!

I used to be a swimmer in high school. I trained every morning before school. This sounds like a cool book!

Looks like a fun book. I wish I swam more seriously, but I'm more of a pool lounger. haha

All of Leanne Shapton's work is so incredible. She definitely takes memory and moments to the next level through her art. I have to get this book!
