Facebook and Your Blog

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

If I wasn't sold on having a Facebook page for your blog when I signed up for it a few months back, I am now. Facebook has rolled out some changes fairly recently that let you use Facebook as your page as opposed to as yourself or...your personal account.  For example, when I am using FB as Village and I like a new page or comment on a status update - it tells them that "Village" liked them or that "Village" left them a comment on their status.  For me, it's a great way to keep my blog happenings separate from my regular FB page, which appeals to me.  I also like it because I know when I am interacting with a blog friend - they know who more clearly than if a random girl named Krystal said something to them :)

How to use Facebook as your blog page:
1. Click "Account" in upper right hand corner
2. Select "Use Facebook as Page"
3. On the box that pops up, click "Switch"
4. Voila, you are now using FB as your blog page.
Happy interacting!

Do you have a Facebook page for your blog? Let me know so I can connect with you. Here's mine!

(P.S. You can switch back at any time :))

OOOh that's very cool! I don't have one but have been considering. It all goes back to that work/life/blog balance though. Between the blog, tumblr, twitter, pintrest, weheartit, you name it, i'm totally swamped. But this does seem like a good idea :)

Someone setup a Facebook account for me, without my permission using my work address. My firm hates this because of the way Facebook takes data and links it in the background. Took me months to change the email address and clear out all the links. I Kind of lost interest after that and have not ever really used it. I might have to look at it again though, sounds interesting, thanks for the heads up….

I still have made a Well-Appointed Catwalk FB page. I know I should, but I have a hard enough time just keeping up with the blog and Twitter.

Very glad you posted about this - I am thinking about creating a FB page for my blog. I might look into it more this weekend. Just have to find the time!

I want to do this, but as you know I just started a new blog b/c family was reading my old blog. I want to promote my blog on fb, but only want some people to see my blog page on fb. you may need to write me a tutorial for the severely confused. and clandestine.

Kavery said...

That is a good feature. I don't have a personal FB page but wouldn't mind a Stylenuggets FB page. Thanks Krystal.

You and me both!! I recently created a fb page for my blog, and I think it was the best decision made. It's free advertising, and why not take advantage!!

Hmm that's pretty cool. I've never really thought about using FB for my blog or anything. I might have to look into this.

I also think it is a great new tool that works perfectly when you have a separate page from your personal facebook page.

Stacey said...

I can't keep up with you Krystal! However, i do need to go and like you on fb:-)

Jamie said...

I've avoided linking to anything on my blog from FB because I wanted them separate - so this is great news.

Your page for Village is what convinced me to start a FB page for A Foreign Land. Do you feel stalked?

YOU. SHOULD. ;D

Connie @ SogniESorrisi said...

I have to admit I don't use Facebook much. I am set up with a blog-related account that shows my post feeds but that's about it. I hardly have the time to keep up with posting, commenting/reading blogs and Tweeting. Can't add more to my plate but it does sound like a great idea!

Wow, I didn't know that.

I don't have the option to switch mine :( Hmm. I kind of just want to start a new one and get really into it. Sadly I never do anything fun on my FB!

Poppies and Sunshine said...

I haven't made a Facebook for my blog yet. I really should. I like how you can switch what profile you want to use within the same account.

Punctuation Mark said...

i dont have one... i can barely keep up with what i have but will definitely like Village!!!

excited about this too! It makes so much more sense, because as you said, many bloggers know each other through their blog name and not their full personal name.

Ah, this is great! I might try that:) I have been thinking of it already, but I thought it was kind of difficult to do. But it's so simple! Thanks for sharing!

Hello hello! Sorry I've been absent from your blog for the past couple of days, I've had some internet problems and haven't been able to read most blogs :\

Anyway, I like the new Facebook Page option too! And I now officially 'like' Village!

I agree, I also like this change. Only thing is that I think that when I like a page, it is goes to both profiles - my personal and my blog's one, I would prefer it to be just one them.
Anyway, it's a good move and will be happy to see you there!!
