Was tagged twice for this game so I better do it! once by my favorite lady in Zurich, Swiss Twist, and also by the pretty lady at Glass Half Full (who did an awesome hiking post inspired by my complete lack of knowing how to dress when hiking). Thanks for thinking of me =)
So first, thank goodness this game landed on something really cool and not one of the million pictures of my dog, me and my dog, or me =) This was taken at around 2 am in February after Mark and I missed the last bus to our house, walked for an hour in the snow ("it's pry not that far!"), and stumbled across a huge party in a tent in our town where marching bands were center stage. Welcome to Fasnacht in Switzerland!
Have you heard of Rollip? I use a few different random photo editors but this is my favorite one so far - it gives you 40 different photo effects to choose from - I'm kind of like a kid in a candy store with it =) I used it on the first 2 pics of my last post (btw =))
I am taking tons of pictures lately! But you were supposed to disown me if I didn't since I have that fancy new camera now =)
I met some friends in Luzern to catch up (one just got back from being on vacation for 3 weeks!) and the weather was gorgeous (warm and rainy how I like it), the setting was perfect, the beer was incredible, and we watched a movie being filmed on a bridge nearby while eating dinner!
I'm so...so happy it's summer.
These pictures are kind of un-real to me - still. Here's the thing - I'm not much of a hiker - I get bored and I'd rather run, etc...but M really wanted to hike up this mountain behind our flat and he was really really excited about it so I couldn't not go - so I went. That little town in the middle row to the right - that's where I live! Just beyond that is Luzern. Anyway, I cannot walk properly - my legs are so incredibly sore...but looking back, I think it was worth it - I got some cool pictures anyway!
My big question is - what in the world do you wear hiking? I'm totally out of my element in hiking shoes and what not. Is it possible to look way hot and go hiking? No...
So do you hike? What do you wear?!
I live in der Schweiz - home to hardcore Swiss hikers and amazing hiking opportunities and a husband who is ridiculously outdoorsy - so I'm not going to be avoiding it anytime soon. Help a girl out!
I buy random notebooks with alarming regularity - and I really don't use them much but I like to just have them there. This may or may not stem back to my childhood - my grandma always had a huge drawer filled with random stationary and fresh notebooks - just waiting for me to write in - and I loved this drawer! My home wouldn't be complete without a similar stash. The above notebooks are perfect in every way - These are on my 'to order' list when Mark gets back to the states, for sure. I would never need another notebook! =)
A lot of what I post here is so that I can remember what is inspiring me because I have ADD and am easily swayed in to buying things that are just ok because I like them in that moment. One of the things that I crave is having my flat look exactly how I want it to and that's really not going to happen without some kind of statement piece - I love that huge picture in the background - it's surprising and unique and I adore it. Must find something like this!
I was reading The Frisky and I came across this article about how Whitney Port's (The City) apartment came up for sale on Craigs List! I love Whitney but am tragically behind on The City so this is the first time I have seen any pictures of her apartment. It's not what I expected and not how I would decorate but I really like it! I would definitely feel at home there. (although I am against her bedspread).
Do you watch The City?
P.S. Thanks for all the happy dating anniversary wishes - they were very cool to get!
Mark and I made sure we enjoyed our 1st Saturday together in for-ev-er (after the shopping was out of the way of course!) We took a picnic to our little lake and enjoyed the sunshine so much. Did I tell you that it rained the whoooole month of May until Friday?! And then we caught up on our favorite show, Community - so funny!
After Mark spoiled me with lunch at my favorite restaurant in Luzern today, he convinced me to get out on the mountain bike today and then I convinced him to go for a run with me =) We also remembered that today is our dating anniversary (12 years ago! whoa!)
One more free day tomorrow!
Hope you are having an amazing weekend!
This is the first weekend that Mark and I will have all to ourselves since before he left for the US back in the beginning of April! Since them he's been gone and we've had visitors. I'm excited for some down time together - I'm even kind of excited to grocery shop with him =)
As we wonder around, I'd love to be wearing this outfit!
I know you are probably thinking "what the heck..what is this cow picture" and I'm kind of thinking that too as in why am I posting this, but aren't they just sooo cute?! We ran across them in a town past Interlaken on a little hike last week on our trip and they just came right up to the fence to say hi to us! We tried to get Bama to check them out but he was terrified, shaking and wouldn't even make eye contact with them - it was quite entertaining =)
I have gone my whole life up until last Christmas NEVER having known about Nutella! Or Crepes! Since then we've had a whirlwind love affair (that is still whirlwinding). I fell in love with them in Prague at the Christmas market (top picture) - I even make them at home now...AND I ate them for dinner in Paris. Just felt like sharing!
A looong time ago, one of my favorite blogs, Metropolitan Mum, tagged moi (!) to do a 10 things that make me happy thing. She is sassy, smart and down to earth so because I like her, I'll do it! I'm usually horrible at meme's (and sometimes I skim over them, sorry!) but I'm going to go ahead and tackle this one ;)
1. my brown dogs ears - they are the softest of soft
2. Taking pictures and loving how they turn out
3. Waking up or falling asleep to a thunderstorm
5. Receiving gifts
6. Giving gifts
7. The feeling after a good run
8. Laughing until I cry
9. Pulling off an amazing meal
10. How Mark is sure to hug me multiple times a day
Feel free to participate and let me know if you put your list up!
I saw this on the Lil Bee and I'm so in the mood to have a backyard of my own - and then to have this in it! I have a little one now - but it goes with our flat so there is not much I can do to it. Every now and then I will miss our old house and huge yard in Iowa where we hosted bon-fires, grill outs, hung our laundry on the line to dry and spent lazy hours in our hammock - but it's ok! I would trade it in again for the chance to live here - but I'll definitely be re-creating it wherever we live when we move back to the US one day =)
This would be a fuzzy pic of Mark and my dawg...but I still love it.
I just had such a whirldwind past week with our company! We did a few day trips while Mark was working and then he took the last part of the week off and we explored southern Switzerland - it was amazing and I plan on showing some of the photos I took (I didn't carry this huge bulky camera bag with my new cam around Switzerland for nothing!) because the areas we went were just so gorgeous!
We sent our friends off on their train tonight and just arrived home a little bit ago. Tomorrow is when I start organizing my life, my computer and my pictures - that is what Mondays are for I think. For now, I must go to bed!
I am seriously loving this amazing story out of Seattle - The Make-A-Wish Foundation granted his wish of being a superhero and got all of these huge groups in the city involved, how freaking adorable is this?! This is beautiful.
(See article here)
Look, my new camera has the fish eye option! I'm obsessed! You're going to get so tired of seeing it!
I have so much more to write but I have visitors again - so I am indisposed for about a week. I might be able to squeeze in a few posts though! I will try to catch up on blogs as best I can but forgive me if I'm slow =)
My little pup looks exactly how I feel today.
We have guests arriving from the US tomorrow morning which means I should be cleaning and planning...
But, it's been gray and rainy for about 5 days now and I'm starting to feel it - I'd much rather lay on the couch, read and nap. I just have absolutely no motivation to do the things on my list which makes me feel like a failure at life!
Does anyone have a sure fire cure for battling the grays?
Olivia Palermo might be a stone cold beeyotch on The City but I can't help but love her sense of style. Vogue did a 30 day feature on her outfits each day and I would take every single one of them!
See it here
Whenever a blogger posts a round-up of any item, my favorite one is always - without fail - the most expensive =( Case in point, Emily's round-up of dresses left me in love with this Malene Birger dress. sigh.
I'm also in love with and inspired by the outfit in the middle down there! (via):
