It's a floral dress kind of day! And tonight I have a hot date! Unfortunately, it's because the young man will be in the US for a whole month - he leaves tomorrow =(
(P.S. I got this dress for $5 at Charlotte Russe last season...best $5 spent ever!)
Oh the Google tour was so fun! Above is a pic in the lobby of me and some of the other Expat Bloggers at the end. Sadly we didn't get to bring in our cameras in case we captured some top secret information on all the white boards that are everywhere =) (It all looked greek to me!)
The tour started off by joining the weekly TGIF party that the employees have in their cafeteria - complete with endless beer, wine and food! Lucky googlers...
We were then taken throughout the whole office - some highlights were trying the slide! yeah! and the firepoles (which were scary). We also played some ping pong, foosball and guitar hero in some of the different lounges.
So apparently there is a policy where no employee should be further than 100m from food - they had little canteens everywhere with coffee, snacks, drinks - all free for employees. I was green with jealousy.
Some other highlights were:
1. A spa where employees get free massages when they start and on their birthdays - they pay a whopping $30 the rest of the time
2. A relaxing dark room with fish tanks lining the walls and massage chairs and beanbags to sit in. Must be rough!
3. Each floor had it's own theme - and there were refurbished gondolas as meeting spaces...some were even filled with foam for nap times?
It was pretty amazing - and the best part was finding out that employees could bring their dogs to work - Bama would love that!!
Needless to say, I have never wanted to work there more. Is it too late to re-do my life/career??
Seeing the office was amazing - but I think that meeting a bunch of other bloggers was even more amazing-er! I was so nervous because I had never done something like that before - but everyone was so nice and I really hope we plan more events in the future!
Ok, so, there are not many things that can make me ridiculously excited like tell everyone I know, FB status it and be really obnoxious about it-things...but...tomorrow I get to tour Google in Zurich and hang out with some other Expat Bloggers and have a party and the nerd in me is seriously flipping out over getting to see their facility! I hope we get to take pictures!!!! I'm going to photograph EVERYTHING and you'll get to see Google BATHROOMS and Google FOOD and I don't know, maybe even the floor because I'm sure it's awesome. And my fingers are crossed that I get to try the slide!!
I think I'm broken, these are the only two things I loved on the Anthropologie site.
OR it's that I just laid out in the sun in shorts and a tank top and I got really hot and have that too much sun my body is full of sand and groggy feeling. I'm not complaining!
Ok, on Saturday night I had one of the best meals of my life and it's at this hotel that is only a 1 minute walk away which is a super bad thing because now maybe I'll be tempted to sneak down there during the day and just eat all. day. while M is at work and I can do that!
So that picture might look non-appetizing, actually, now that I think about it, I can't tell, all it does is make me want to eat my computer screen. It doesn't help that I'm starving right now. Anyway, so what I had is veal with mushrooms in this amazing mushroomy sauce with vegetables and Rösti (which is basically hashbrowns but so much better and is served with dinners here) and what he had was Roulade beef in a red wine sauce. And the wine...oh my goodness, the best red wine I've ever had.
Ok, that's all...
Alright, I had to get the pictures of me to move on =)
Not too long ago - December, the young man and I finally were able to move out of a tiny (tiny) furnished flat to a humongous windowed mammoth of a thing. I'm not complaining but it is definitely larger than what we need. It was almost slight of hand - we would have agreed on anything that wasn't on the 5th floor and where we could move around further than 5 ft from eachother. I would have lived in the bathroom at Coop to get away from this place. I don't even like to walk by it...Needless to say, our jaws hit the floor when we saw this apartment. Plus, it has a garden - and letting our brown dog out, in the winter no less, was a huge production...coat, boots, hat, gloves, dog bag, keys for front door, down 5 flights, up 5 flights, coaxing him to pleeeease 'get busy' whilst we froze.
Oh bad place bad place, I think i was just traumatized again... Sorry for that...Back to my point. Moving in to this flat was amazing...having to furnish it was another thing entirely. The prices in Switzerland are outrageous - furniture costs at least 40% more than in the US. We aren't sure exactly how long we will be here - at least 3 years to maybe forever - so Ikea was really our only option! So off we went with a rented truck, a hope and a dream of furnishing a huge apartment cheaply. Well, we furnished it, without the cheaply part...
Above is the guest bedroom =) It's a work in progress and I'm excited to attempt some art projects to spruce up the place!
I wanted to show 2 of my recent most favorite purchases ever! The first of course is the purse from Urban Outfitters that I've already mentioned. The second is this big huge slouchy cardigan from the New Yorker that I just can't stop wearing=) It's perfect for lounging around the house or decorating with fun necklaces or scarves and going out for the day. So there you have it, my first fashion-ish picture posts ever!
A few weeks ago, the lovely Deborah at Metropolitan Mum tagged me to do a 'what's in your purse' type post. Better late than never! I hope you do this too - and if you do let me know in my comments!
1. My favorite purchase ever - a Deena and Ozzy Chain Tote from UO (I linked to the new version). I get so many compliments on this purse! My German teacher (who is from Italy) says it looks Italian - I didn't even try explaining UO to her :)
2. My awesome 'I Love Water' water...thing. It's cute because there's a whale on it =)
3. Gloves and shades and kleenex - liking that lately I'm having more use for the shades and less for the gloves and kleenex! Yay spring!
4. Agatha Christie novel - part of a project I'm doing with a dear friend (oops, now you know the book). We are each reading a book and making notes throughout it - then we'll send it to eachother and read eachothers books making more notes - then send them back again! Should be funny..
5. Soft Lips chapstick
6. a pen of course!
7. Bath and Body Works mint Aromatherapy lotion - smells sooo relaxing
8. My little notebook where I write German phrases and words - then peruse on the train hoping to retain some of them...it works sometimes :)
9. Airwaves gum
10. My train/bus cards, Swiss visa card, passport and of course my Coop Supercard.
11. Swiss Francs...do you see all that change? Do you understand my obsession with finding a coin purse now?
12. iPhone. I miss my blackberry so hard. Sometimes I even take it out just to look at it. I know, it's sad. But the iPhone's SBB train/bus schedule app has saved me numerous times, so I'll keep it around. Plus I take a bazillion pics with this thing!
13. A pic of my pup so I can show him off like a proud parent to everyone. everyone.

Well I bit the bullet and took the fast track to learning to write code. AKA I'm probably not going to learn how to write code - but instead use way awesome web design software. This is my first try - I downloaded Artisteer and here it is! I'd review it but my review would mean nothing because I've never set foot in this whole world before. I'm just excited to have 3 columns. Now to learn how to design an amazing header... I'm thinking photoshop next? Hmmm...
Have a lovely Monday!
I bought this cute little bag from H&M for only 5 CHF! It's perfect for my almost daily trips to the grocery store - and makes them a little more fun =) Moving to Switzerland and living without a car has definitely brought on a whole list of lifestyle changes - one being that we can't just go to a Target (moment of silence) and pack out our car with a couple weeks worth of groceries - we can only get what we can carry back on the bus or our bikes or with walking. Not to mention the choice of groceries is a lot different so we are eating a lot less processed and a lot more fresh. Also, a trip to a fast food restaurant, like McDonalds, is a lengthy train ride away when you're starving (which is why you want fast food in the first place) - so, it's not so fast - and getting 2 meals at McDonalds costs about $25 - so you can imagine what eating at a regular restaurant costs!
All of that to say...I need cute tote bags :)
I think everyone in the world reads Rockstar Diaries which is wear I found this charming video. I'm in love with it! This photographer/videographer has so many other great things to see on his blog if you are interested!
I don't know about you but I'm doing all I can to bring on summer. Mother nature, can you hear me? Stop teasing me with warm sun one day then snow the next!
I'm rebelling by riding my bike around to do errands and shopping for swim suit coverups. (Ok, so maybe I froze while riding the bike so I didn't win that one, took one for the team).
I'm embarassingly behind on reading all of your lovely blogs. I'm halfway through though!
